The Los Angeles Rams have traded receiver to the Houston Texans in a swap of draft picks.
The Los Angeles Rams have traded receiver Ben Skowronek to the Houston Texans in a swap of late-round draft picks.
Houston got Skowronek and a seventh-round pick in 2026 for a sixth-round pick in 2026 in the trade announced Thursday.
Skowronek was a seventh-round draft choice from Notre Dame who played his way into a significant role on offense and special teams during his three seasons with the Rams.
He notably had two catches for 12 yards as a rookie in the Rams’ Super Bowl victory while playing 46 snaps on offense after Odell Beckham Jr.’s injury. He became a regular in coach Sean McVay’s offense during the Rams’ dismal 2022 season, catching 39 passes for 376 yards and even lining up extensively as a fullback while starting 11 games.
Rams continue to reshape roster, trading Ben Skowronek to Texans
Skowronek primarily contributed last season on special teams, serving as a team captain for the Rams. He has 58 receptions for 575 yards and one touchdown in his three-year career.Having been previously been reported that Ben Skowronek, who had 2 receptions for 12 yards in the Rams’ 23-20 win against the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI, was being cut by the team, it now seems that another suitor has come in to ensure the Northwestern man’s services.
The Rams, preparing to build on last season’s unexpected run to the playoffs, continued to reshape their roster on Thursday by trading receiver and special teams leader Ben Skowronek to the Houston Texans, the Rams announced.
The Rams also sent a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Texans for a 2026 sixth-round pick as part of the deal.
Skowronek, a seventh-round draft pick in 2021, was a key special teams player, rotational receiver and occasional fullback for Rams teams that won the Super Bowl to end the 2021 season and made the playoffs last season.
The Rams receiving corps now includes star veteran Cooper Kupp, second-year pro Puka Nacua, veteran Demarcus Robinson, Tutu Atwell — a former second-round pick entering the final year of his rookie contract — and rookie Jordan Whittington.
Skowronek, due to earn about $1 million this season, according to Overthecap.com, enjoyed his most productive season as a receiver in 2022, when he caught 39 passes for 376 yards.
Last season, Skowronek played through several injuries but caught only eight passes for 66 yards and a touchdown
