Sheffield United worse situation now leads to future positivity
Alan Biggs discusses the summer transfer jigsaw puzzle at Sheffield United and their two-point deduction.
It’s a straightforward football formula, but it’s not that easy to solve. It is necessary for the whole to exceed the sum of its components. That must be Sheffield United’s first priority this summer after they essentially traded in crushing transfer embargoes for a modest points penalty.
I am aware that if United had not accepted the docking of two points for next season, along with an additional two suspended, they would have faced an embargo for the next TWO windows. All of the Blades’ preparations would have been put on hold if the EFL had been able to force them out of both the close-season and mid-winter periods.
