NFL reporter offers major update on Stefon Diggs’ future with Buffalo Bills amid trade rumors
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs is no stranger to creating headlines for his behavior on the sideline and social media. Following a recent tweet by the NFL star, conversations were renewed about his future in Buffalo and his desire to remain with the Bills.
Diggs, coming off his least productive season since 2019 with the Minnesota Vikings, didn’t end this past year with Buffalo on the best terms. He dropped a critical pass in the playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and compiled just 349 receiving yards on 63 targets in the team’s final eight regular-season games. With the roster already having gone through chances due to salary-cap issues, his future with the team has become a source of debate.
Stefon Diggs contract: $27.854 million cap hit in 2024, $27.354 million cap hit in 2025, $28.446 million cap hit in 2026, $22.549 million cap hit in 2027
While Diggs is one of the highest-paid NFL players, there is a path to get out of his contract before it expires in 2028 without taking a devastating cap hit. If Buffalo designates Diggs as a post-June 1 trade or release candidate in 2025, it would generate $18.5 million in cap savings.

Importantly, trading or releasing Diggs after June 1 this year would leave the Bills with a much larger cap hit in an offseason that has already seen them lose a significant amount of talent. However, the 30-year-old wide receiver caused a stir on social media leading to speculation he wants out of Buffalo.
Ready for watever.

Diggs has already forced a trade once in his career and has a history of implying he wants out. Following a year of drama with the All-Pro wideout, his recent tweet fueled speculation that he could be moved. Amid ongoing debate, many around the league believe Buffalo has already made its decision on Diggs’ status.
