Danny Rohl has been praising Sheffield Wednesday youngster Bailey Cadamarteri – despite not picking him in recent weeks.
The Owls’ head coach has been speaking to The Star after Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Plymouth.
So, what has Rohl had to say about Wednesday talent Cadamarteri? Let’s take a closer look…
What Danny Rohl has said about Sheffield Wednesday star Bailey Cadamarteri
Well, it’s proved to be a breakthrough season for the Wednesday striker and Cadamarteri looks like a quality talent.
He’s scored four goals in all competitions during the 2023/24 campaign – but he has found himself out of the picture recently.
Cadamarteri came off the bench for 22 minutes against Plymouth but he’d missed the three games previously.
Rohl was quizzed on the teenager and it would appear that he’s been very impressed with him this season.
He told The Star: “Bailey can be very happy with how he has improved in the last four months. It’s a massive improvement. He can take this development and this improvement into the next weeks and months.
“As a manager, it is just great to have more and more players who can score, either off the bench or on the pitch from the start. It is so helpful.”
Cadamarteri will need to be patient but he’s going to be a star
Given that the Owls are currently in a relegation dogfight, Rohl might choose to place his trust in more experienced players more often than not.
However, he has showcased that he can be a real asset to the Wednesday team – and thankfully the Owls have tied Cadamarteri to a contract.
It’s been a successful season already for the player who is still only 18-years-old and a more frequent run of games will come at some point.
Cadamarteri definitely still has a part to play during 2023/24 but as Rohl mentions, Wednesday do have a number of options now.
The academy graduate wasn’t getting a look-in under Xisco Munoz and it was Rohl who rewarded his efforts with the under-21 outfit.
The challenge for Wednesday striker Cadamarteri is to not get too high with the highs and not beat himself up too much when things don’t go his way.
The player is set for stardom and in Rohl, he has a boss that rates him and will trust him to do a job if he’s called upon.
