Harrison Ashby and Bruno Guimaraes were so happy for one Newcastle United player who made his return from injury against Fulham.
Jacob Murphy has been missing from the squad for three months after requiring surgery on a dislocated shoulder which has forced him to miss the last 10 Premier League games.
But Murphy is now back and ready to fight with the rest of this Newcastle team after posting a message on Instagram stating how happy he was to be making his return, with Bruno and Ashby keen to show their support.
Murphy almost had dream return for Newcastle
After just five minutes, Murphy had the chance to open the scoring when the ball was gifted to him inside the box but he could only fire it straight at the keeper, a bit of rustiness there to shake off.
A bit later on in the game the 28-year-old proved that he can still finish well with a beautifully executed finish into the bottom corner, though it was quickly brought back for an offside.
It could have been a dream return for Murphy who actually has four goal contributions in his five league appearances this season, so he’s technically one of Newcastle’s most influential players.
But despite not getting his dream return in the game, his teammates were still so happy to see the attacker back on the pitch after so long out of the side.
On Instagram, Murphy said: “11 weeks 5 days later… So happy to be back with my guys ready for a big push in the 2nd half of the season. Into the next round with lots still to play for”.
Ashby then responded with: “Yessssss”.
Bruno added a love heart emoji while Nick Pope commented: “Proud of fellow shoulder guy”.
Newcastle earn confidence boosting victory
Not only was it great to see Murphy back on the pitch as Newcastle’s injury woes start to recover, it was also great to get back to winning ways after a heart-breaking defeat against Man City before the break.
Eddie Howe has been very unlucky this season with a never ending injury list, tough cup draws and unfortunate individual mistakes in so many games which has cost them dearly this season.
The 46-year-old, however, will be hoping that his luck has now changed in the second half of the season and that Newcastle can go on a push to try and maintain their European status for next year.
Newcastle now have an FA Cup fifth round tie to look forward to either against Blackburn or Wrexham and a chance to go back to Wembley after last years Carabao Cup defeat.
