JUST IN: Door opens for shock Newcastle player late deal

Kieran Trippier could still make a sensational move to Bayern Munich this month or in the summer as Newcastle are under pressure to sell, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that the Magpies could agree to an interim figure with the German giants before the February 1 cut-off date as they need to raise funds to abide by their Financial Fair Play obligations.

Newcastle rejected a £12.8million offer from Thomas Tuchel’s side on Tuesday (23 January), but they could be tempted by a larger fee if Bayern return with another bid.

Well-placed sources told Football Insider that Newcastle need to offload players this month, which has kept the door open for the 33-year-old to move to the Bundesliga.

Trippier emphasised his commitment to the Magpies after their FA Cup win against Fulham on Saturday (27 January), stating that he’s “100 per cent committed” to the club.

However, sources told Football Insider earlier this week (24 January) that the England international is “very keen” on a switch to Bayern and has been “sold” on their vision.

Eddie Howe’s side must sell players this month to make room for any new signings and to help avoid financial charges recently levelled at Everton and Nottingham Forest, meaning a last-gasp deal for the full-back is still on the cards.

Sources have also told Football Insider (24 January) that Newcastle are locked in advanced talks with Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab about a fee for forward Miguel Almiron.

Newcastle sit 10th in the Premier League table and most recently advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup after their 2-1 win over Fulham.

They are next in league action against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Tuesday night (30 January).
