Veteran reliever Hector Neris signed with the Cubs to a one-year deal on Saturday morning and while the Yankees had previously shown interest in the right-hander, they’ve already moved on to other, more affordable bullpen options.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported late this week that the Yankees are making “low offers” in their pursuit of a bullpen upgrade, targeting the likes of Ryan Brasier and Phil Maton. Hector Neris, an experienced reliever, inked a one-year contract with the Cubs this Saturday. Although the Yankees had expressed interest in Neris earlier, they have now shifted their focus to cost-effective bullpen alternatives. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Yankees are presenting “low offers” as they explore options like Ryan Brasier and Phil Maton for bullpen enhancement. The possibility of reuniting with Wandy Peralta and Keynan Middleton remains open, with Middleton being the most budget-friendly choice among them.
