Todd Cantwell sends message as Rangers exit news confirmed at Ibrox
Rangers star Todd Cantwell has sent a message to Steven Davis after the player announced his retirement from football.
As per the official Rangers website (25 January), the 39-year-old has decided to hang up his boots, having had two spells at Ibrox.
The midfield ace won four league titles with the Scottish giants, as well as lifting both the Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup on three occasions.
Among the countless players sending messages to Davis was current Gers ace Cantwell, who wrote on Instagram: “Legend Davo, wish you a well earned rest and time with your family!”
Stellar career
Davis will be sorely missed at Ibrox, both on and off the pitch, with the player having also taken to the dugout during his time at the club.
When the Gers needed an interim boss following the dismissal of Michael Beale, the Northern Ireland man was called into action, serving with distinction before the arrival of Philippe Clement.
The Belgian will have been extremely grateful for that brief but important tenure, which will have allowed the players to continue working hard until the new manager made the move to Ibrox.
But Clement will now miss the services of Davis, who fully deserves to relax and spend time with his family after retiring from the game.
The midfielder made over 350 appearances for the Gers, as well as over 200 appearances for Southampton and over 100 for Aston Villa.
Rangers
Davis also lined out for Fulham once upon a time, with all of his former clubs extremely grateful for the player’s time there.
