Report: Club think they have turned ‘outstanding’ Newcastle player’s head and he wants to join them now

One Champions League club now believe that they have manage to turn the head of their January target and Newcastle United player who wants to join them.

Despite seeing their first bids rejected, Bayern Munich look intent on signing Kieran Trippier in January to solve their issues at right-back.

A new report from SportsLens is now claiming that the German giants have managed to turn Trippier’s head and that the experienced defender is now set on leaving Tyneside for Bavaria.

Trippier could be tempted by Bayern’s offer

Trippier has been an excellent servant for Newcastle having dragged them from relegation to the Champions League in just 18 months, so it’s obvious why the club wouldn’t want to let him go.

However, on a personal level it’s easy to see how his head could be turned. At 33-years-old Trippier has limited time playing at the top of his game and this would be his best chance to succeed in Europe.

With Newcastle nowhere near the top four spots in the Premier League at the moment there is also little chance they will be competing in the tournament next year anyway.

The ‘outstanding‘ defender has the chance to re-join some of his former teammates, probably earn more money and compete for several trophies before entering the twilight of his career.

Newcastle aren’t willing to let Trippier leave on loan which is what Bayern were initially offering, but they did then return with a permanent bid that was believed to have bee immediately rejected.

The Magpies are very keen to raise as much money as they can to navigate their way through Profit and Sustainability Rules so they can’t risk losing out on their valuation of the England international.

Should an offer upwards of £11m-12m arrive from Bayern then it’s very likely that it would be accepted by Newcastle and the former Tottenham man would be free to discuss the terms of his new contract.

If not then it’s difficult to see the 33-year-old leave St James’ Park at least until the summer when the club will have more time and more money to line up possible replacements or other positions to reinvest the money.
