Newcastle United’s recruitment team are always on the lookout for the next best thing, and they might have spotted it over in Denmark.
It was reported back in November that Toon scouts had been to watch Copenhagen winger Roony Bardghji, who hit the headlines last year when he scored a Champions League winner against Manchester United.
Roony Bardghji wants to become the best
Roony Bardghji has recently spoke to the Athletic, and admitted that his dream is to become the best player in the world.
“I wish to become the best player in the world,“ he said.
“Of course, playing in the biggest leagues, playing for one of the biggest teams… but being the best player in the world. That’s my biggest goal.
The Swede regularly plays on the right wing, which is a position that Newcastle need to improve in this year. Miguel Almiron has done well, but he is not a long term solution when you consider the level that the club want to reach.
That is why signing someone like Bardghji would be smart. He is not the finished article, but he has the potential to grow and develop under the guidance of Eddie Howe.
Whoever does sign the teenager will be securing the services of one of Europe’s biggest talents. That is what Newcastle are in the market for, as they look to get ahead of the curve and sign players for a lower fee before they reach their potential.
That is why it is no surprise to see Bardghji linked with a move to Newcastle, but it remains to be seen if the Magpies will be able to strike a deal
“That’s what I’m working towards every day, reaching my goal in five years… If you’re dreaming, dream big.”
Newcastle United also want to become the best
It is obviously just a dream, but it is a real show of confidence for Bardghji to even say that.
They are the type of comments that the Newcastle owners will love, as they are looking to become the biggest and best club in the world. To do that you need the best players, so Bardghji could be perfect for the ongoing Toon project.
