West Bromwich Albion are among the sides chasing the signature of Andrey Santos from Chelsea this January.

According to HITC, there are three Championship sides all eyeing a move for the Brazilian.

Santos signed for the Blues in a deal worth a reported £18 million but has yet to break through into the first team squad at Stamford Bridge.

The 19-year-old spent the first half of the campaign on loan with Nottingham Forest but has been recalled due to a lack of game time.

This has led to speculation that a move to the second division could be on the cards, with Sunderland, Hull City and West Brom all mentioned as potential destinations.

Carlton Palmer: “A good potential signing”

Carlton Palmer

Carlton Palmer believes that this would be a good addition to Carlos Corberan’s squad for the second half of the season.

The former midfielder has identified midfield and attack as an area that the Baggies need to improve in January if they are to compete for Premier League promotion.

“Another club reported to be interested in Andrey Santos is West Brom,” Palmer told Football League World.

“West Brom are currently going very, very well in the Championship and they need to bring in players.

“They’ve got some injuries at the moment to midfield players and strikers, so yes it would be a good potential signing.

“A lot of clubs are interested in Andrey and Chelsea will want to see where he is going to get game time to improve.

“The Brazilian is very highly rated and West Brom would be a good potential signing in their quest to get into the play-offs or maybe even better.”

West Brom finished ninth in the Championship last season, narrowly missing out on a top six spot.

Corberan has earned a lot of praise for the work he has done at The Hawthorns since taking over in late 2022.

The financial difficulties that the club has faced during his tenure has made it difficult for them to compete in the transfer market, but they have remained competitive on the pitch.

A look at the latest transfer news at West Brom Football Club.

West Brom will be aiming to gain promotion back to the top flight, especially as it would ease their current financial concerns.

Next up for the Midlands outfit is the visit of Blackburn Rovers to the Hawthorns on 13 January.

Carlos Corberan of West Brom

Santos could be a smart addition

Santos has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League, failing to make an appearance in the competition for Forest during his loan spell at the City Ground.

However, a move to the Championship may see him shine.

West Brom could use some strengthening in midfield and this would be an exciting way to go about improving Corberan’s side.

There is a reason Chelsea spent so much on him in the first place, and someone with that kind of potential in this team could really find their feet under Corberan.
