What did Bruce Pearl have to say after Auburn’s win over Arkansas?

Auburn’s head coach was pleased with his team’s effort in its SEC opener.

Auburn took care of business in its SEC opener, blowing out Arkansas on the road.

What did Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl have to say following the game?

“We played really well,” Pearl said. “Obviously we got off to a rough start and you could see the moment almost get the best of us at the beginning. We didn’t play very well early, they made some shots early. It could have gotten away from us right there.”

Auburn handed Arkansas the biggest loss it has ever had at home. Pearl talked about what that means for the program.

“That history does matter,” Pearl said. “I thought it was really interesting about the Arkansas fans, they are loyal to the Hogs, but they also know their basketball. They saw some good basketball and stayed until the end to watch it.”

Pearl once again talked about how deep his team is.

“We don’t drop off when we go to the bench,” We’ve been talking about that all year.”

The game was noticeably chippy early and multiple technical and flagrant fouls were called. Pearl discussed that part of the game.

“I don’t know why it was chippy,” Pearl said. “It was a little bit and a couple of times we talked, that wasn’t good. We’ll try not to do that again. We just tried to play the game the right way.”

Auburn will return to action for its SEC home opener on Tuesday night against the Texas A&M Aggies. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT and the broadcast can be found on ESPN2.
