‘Talking to some people’: Danny Rohl now drops exciting January transfer hint at Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday could look to utilise their contacts for new signings in this month’s transfer window.

Specifically, Danny Rohl in his first transfer window in charge of Sheffield Wednesday, along with new Head of Recruitment Kevin Beadell who arrived last month, could look to poach some players from some of Rohl’s former clubs.

Despite being the youngest manager in the English Football League at 34 years old, Rohl is very well connected having sent time with the likes of Red Bull Leipzig, Bayern Munich, and Southampton in the past, as well as working with the German national team.

Speaking to The Star, Rohl was asked if whether or not he’ll utilise his connections at former clubs to potentially bring some new names to Hillsborough this month, to which he replied:

“You are always looking and talking to some people. It’s not just our former clubs, it’s also about the Bundesliga, the second division.

Sheffield Wednesday could become very ‘European’ under Rohl

Clubs in European seem to have a very different feel about them.

They often have younger coaches at the helm, with a clearer connection between the first-team and the youth teams, whilst hosting players from across the continent.

And so Sheffield Wednesday could quickly become a club with this kind of feel; they have a young and exciting coach in Rohl who is bridging the gap between youth and senior players, and now he looks set to bring in some players from across the continent.

It certainly bodes well for the Owls and it’s an exciting project that Rohl is seemingly getting underway, but he needs to proper backing from owner Dejphon Chansiri and fans need to maintain some kind of patience with this season.

Whilst results are good and Wednesday’s chances of survival are looking likewise, there remains a long way to go and a lot of work to do in this month’s transfer window.

But if Rohl can bring in some exciting youngsters either on loan or on permanent deals from the likes of Bayern Munich and Leipzig this month, it would certainly go towards bolstering the club’s survival chances.

Up next is an FA Cup clash vs Cardiff City.
