Confirmed: Medical staff to set up checks as another Celtic ace at risk of missing Rangers clash

Brendan Rodgers has issued an update on Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers ahead of the Rangers Old Firm clash on 30 December.

The Hoops manager has revealed that it does not appear to be a serious hamstring issue for the American but he’ll still need to undergo checks and is a doubt.

Reo Hatate and Liel Abada may also miss the game but Rodgers remains hopeful of them returning to the bench, per Scotsman.

He said on Carter-Vickers, “Thankfully his hamstring hasn’t gone, but he just felt a little bit tight. We’ve said to him before that if he feels anything, it’s better letting us know. I don’t know, the medical team will assess him and see where we’re at in the coming days.”

Can win this

Despite being away from home, Philippe Clement’s side should fancy their chances against Celtic considering the potential absence of key players like Carter-Vickers, Abada and Hatate for the Hoops.

Rangers

Carter-Vickers’ injury concern, while not a serious hamstring issue, may disrupt Celtic’s defensive stability, providing an opportunity for Rangers to exploit any defensive vulnerabilities.

Rangers have been in good form, sitting five points behind Celtic with two games in hand.

The potential defensive reshuffling due to Carter-Vickers’ injury opens avenues for Rangers’ attackers with Abdallah Sima and Cyriel Dessers potentially licking their lips

The game at Parkhead provides an opportunity for Rangers to showcase their resilience and capitalise on any weaknesses in Celtic’s defence.

Rodgers’ side have been under the cosh of late and it might just be the perfect time to beat them at their home ground and take control of proceedings in the SPFL title chase.

In other Rangers news, the club may now look to sign an international striker in January amid a recent £2.3m development.
