Chris Sutton Believes Celtic Star is Lacking “Belief” Despite Good Stats

Chris Sutton believes that Hyeon-gyu Oh is lacking “belief” as he approaches one year at the club.

Despite Celtic’s dominant 3-0 win over Dundee on Boxing Day, Oh’s individual contribution from the bench was less impactful.

Introduced at 1-0 to help secure the victory, Oh struggled to make a significant impact, in contrast to Mikey Johnston, who thrived during the game after coming on.
Chris Sutton, commentating for Sky Sports, observed a particular moment when Oh was through on goal but appeared to lack the confidence to take the opportunity. Sutton noted Oh’s hesitance in trying to beat the Dundee defenders and his failure to take a decisive shot.

“I think he has to be really positive in that situation, Oh.

“He didn’t have the belief there that he could go past either Dundee defender.

“Try to commit and get a shot off in that situation. You never know.”

The 22-year-old’s talent is evident, and he has managed to score five goals, which is commendable for a player with irregular playing time. Having only played 90 minites twice this season, he’s averaging a goal every 114 minutes. [Tranfsermarkt]

Celtic are in the market for another striker in January, it’s expeted that Celtic will bring in a quality forward to challenge both Oh and Kyogo.
