BBC pundit: Rangers mooted to track ‘Outstanding’ left-back owned by 6x Champions League winners

Kenny Miller has delivered his verdict on Dundee loanee Owen Beck, who’s owned by Liverpool, potentially moving to Rangers or Celtic.

The pundit told BBC Sportsound, as quoted by Football Scotland, that he expects the Old Firm duo to be looking at the 21-year-old left-back.

The Welshman made his senior debut for Liverpool, the six-time Champions League winners, in an EFL Cup clash against Preston North End in 2021.

Miller said: “I’m looking forward to seeing Owen Beck today. In the games that I’ve seen him this year, he’s been absolutely outstanding. This goes again to show the loans and opportunities that can be presented, from the big clubs in England up to Scotland to play.

“I would expect, for me, maybe the big two up here [Rangers and Celtic] to be having a look at this player. Both of them could do with a player in that area of the pitch and he’s been outstanding.

“Tony’s right, their recruitment’s been good, they’ve got a decent enough balance in how they attack, they work hard and have had a brilliant start to the season just outside the top six. They’ve got a couple of games in hand to catapult them into the top six.”

Sign him

Beck’s ability to impact play in the final third, showcased by a hat-trick of assists and a decisive late winner in U23 matches for Liverpool, underlines his potential to bolster Rangers’ attacking options from the left-back position.

With both Gers and Celtic in need of reinforcement in that area, securing Beck’s signature could provide Philippe Clement’s side with a strategic advantage.

Rangers

As a Wales youth international, Beck brings international experience and is a goal-scoring threat, further enhancing his value.

Miller’s endorsement of the 21-year-old’s outstanding performances underscores the player’s potential impact, making it crucial for Rangers to secure his services over Celtic, contributing to their quest for sustained success and dominance in Scottish football.

With Borna Barisic in the final few years of his career, it makes a lot of sense for Gers to plan for the future.
