Star admits he went to Saudi Arabia for the money amid Newcastle transfer links

Ruben Neves has been praised for his candor after stating that he moved to the Saudi Pro League for financial reasons.

Many players have found Saudi Arabia to be an appealing destination, with a slew of high-profile players making the lucrative move to the Middle Eastern kingdom over the summer.

Neves was among those who made the switch, joining Al Hilal from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a three-year deal worth £47 million in June.

Only a few months into his new contract, speculations have linked him with a return to the Premier League, with Newcastle United and Arsenal reportedly keen.

However, the 26-year-old recently stated his intention to remain with Al Hilal and dismissed rumors of a return to the English Premier League.

Neves has already revealed his motivations for joining the Saudi Pro League, bluntly admitting that money played a significant role in his decision.

“Of course, one of the things is the money, of course, you cannot hide that,” he told the BBC.

“But when we see the project, and I know a lot of people think we say this just to say it, but that’s not true,” she says.

“When they present the project to us, it is a very, very large project.” People don’t realize how much the country is changing, how much football is progressing, and how much football can be in a few years.

“We accomplished this in one year.” So I believe it will be a terrific league in two or three years.

When asked if he might go on loan to Newcastle because of the club’s ties to the Saudi Pro League, Neves dismissed the idea.

“I’m not going. I believe that is hearsay because of the club’s owner and because I played in England as well.

“There was a Newcastle interest before I came here, but I’m really happy here. My family are really happy, the kids as well.”
