The Red Bull driver and triple successive drivers’ world champion said this week at a sim racing event in Amsterdam that maintaining his 2023 levels of domination next year will be nearly hard.
Running the same season will be nearly impossible, according to NOS, a Dutch broadcaster.
We will, of course, continue to improve our car, but the other teams have learned a lot from us. I don’t anticipate more competition, but I do anticipate it.
This year, Red Bull gained more points than second and third-placed teams Mercedes and Ferrari, but Verstappen reveals he has one eye on another key rival for 2024.
When asked which team he fears the most for 2024, the Dutchman replied, “That is extremely difficult to estimate.” Every Saturday, a different squad performed admirably.
McLaren appeared to be right there for a while, but then they fell back. However, they appear to know which way to go and have good individuals working for them, he said.
But Mercedes will want to win again, and Ferrari knows what they need to do.
Verstappen believes the fact that Red Bull did not always dominate qualifying sessions in 2023 is the clearest indication that his competitors are catching up.
