The next Premier League encounter between Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United has been predicted by Paul Merson.
The former Arsenal player and Sky Sports commentator predicts three goals in the match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
So, what did Paul Merson have to say about Tottenham Hotspur’s match versus Newcastle United? Let us investigate.
Paul Merson backs Tottenham Hotspur win v Newcastle United
Tottenham Hotspur will face Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs and Newcastle both lost on Thursday night. While Tottenham lost to West Ham United in the London derby, Newcastle were defeated 3-0 at Goodison Park by relegation-threatened Everton.
Former Arsenal player Paul Merson believes Spurs will win all three points against Newcastle.
The Sky Sports commentator believes Ange Postecoglou’s team will win 2-1.
“Like the previous game, this is a tough one to call because it depends on what happens between West Ham and Tottenham,” Merson told SportsKeeda. That being said, I have a hunch Ange Postecoglou’s team will take this one.
“Newcastle have been outstanding so far, but most of their players are playing out of their skins, so I believe they will be caught off guard sooner or later.” The Magpies also have a UEFA Champions League match against AC Milan coming up, so they’ll be focused on that game as they still have a chance to advance to the knockout rounds.
“They don’t control their destiny, so they’ll have to win against the Serie A giants and hope Borussia Dortmund does them a favor against Paris Saint-Germain, so it’ll be an interesting one to watch.”
“Spurs are on a bit of a slump, but something tells me they’ll turn up and win 2-1.”
“Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Newcastle United.”
My View: Tottenham Hotspur will win vs Newcastle United
Tottenham Hotspur will, in my opinion, eke out a win over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
I believe the Spurs will complete the task. Tottenham’s problem in recent games has been that they have conceded far too many goals.
Tottenham, like Aston Villa, failed to hold on to their lead against West Ham United in the London derby.
Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou, I believe, will correct that against Newcastle. The Magpies are not at their best, thus I predict Tottenham to win over Eddie Howe’s team.
