Carlos Corberan thoughtful reaction to Tony Mowbray’s Sunderland departure

Following Mowbray’s departure from the Stadium of Light, Corberan acknowledged how much he admires him.

Carlos Corberan, manager of West Bromwich Albion, has confessed that he was astonished when he learned Tony Mowbray had been sacked by Sunderland. He was speaking to the Baggies’ media team ahead of his side’s match against the Black Cats.

Following a terrible run of form that saw them drop out of the promotion mix, the Wearside club chose to remove Mowbray on Monday.

With only two wins in their previous nine games, they were on the verge of falling farther down the table, though they are still in ninth place at the moment.

Many people were surprised by his resignation, given the club was in a pretty decent position despite the huge amount of transfer activity that transpired at the Stadium of Light during the summer transfer window, and the Black Cats picked up a respectable draw at Millwall last weekend.

This is a risky decision, but the Wearside outfit are still in with a chance of finishing in the top six and are not in danger of being relegated.

Mowbray, on the other hand, was clearly a well-liked character who will be missed following his departure.

Corberan on Mowbray: “He did an incredible job there”

Corberan admires Mowbray and has nothing but positive things to say about him in his pre-match press conference.

“I was surprised to hear the news about Tony Mowbray leaving Sunderland earlier this week,” he stated. He performed an outstanding job there, in my opinion.

“He started at Sunderland in their first year back in the Championship, when they were in the middle of the table.” He qualified them for the playoffs.

“They’re one team that plays really, really good football, so he’s one coach I’ve followed.”

“I respect him a lot, not just because of his past with West Bromwich Albion, but because of the football his teams play.”

West Brom could benefit from Tony Mowbray’s departure

As previously said, Mowbray was clearly adored by many Sunderland players and fans.

That is reinforced by Luke O’Nien’s latest social media post.

And some players may be depressed as a result of his dismissal, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the Black Cats lose to the Baggies this weekend.

It might perhaps bring the players closer together, which would benefit Wearside, but without Mowbray at the helm, they may struggle even playing at the Stadium of Light.

After losing at home on multiple occasions this season, the Baggies know they can take three points from this game if they perform to their best capacity.
